Southwell Running Club, Roundstone 05Southwell R.C from Nottingham, U.K were on hols here at the end of May. In conjunction with O\'Dowds a charity run was organised which attracted over a hundred competitors. The O\'Dowds Five miler as it was called, was won by an athlete from the Galway City Harriers club.
Cookery Show on Roundstone Harbour, October 05Well, this was certainly a first for Roundstone and for O\'Dowds. A visit by Australian cookery show \"Fresh\" to O\'Dowds led to chef Rui De Silva doing a live cookery demonstration of the making of our Beef & Guinness Stew on the harbour by the waterside.
The orginal Tow Truck falling into the pier scenarioThis event occured on the 4th September 2004. It turned out to be a dramtic one with a car falling into the pier and then the Tow Truck falling in as well while it was attempting to retreive the car. Traditional Galway Hookers in Roundstone bay.Roundstone is a magnificent backdrop to the traditional Galway Hooker boats when they are in full sail. These boats used to transport turf and fish between the aran islands and Roundstone.
Photos of Roundstone HarbourIn front of O\'Dowds is one of the most picturesque working harbours in Ireland. On a clear day you will have a panorama of mountains, sea and the ever changing Connemara sky all reflecting in the water in front of you! The sunrise over Roundstone harbour is particularly breathtaking. The harbour is a hive of activity in summer with fishermen busy landing their catch of lobster, shrimp, crab and mackerel.
Sunset on Dogs Bay Beach, RoundstoneThe winter sunset on Dogs Bay Beach can be fantastic. Dogs Bay is located three miles from Roundstone on the Ballyconneely road towards Clifden.
